Every puppy we raise receives careful attention, proper veterinary care, and comes from health tested parents. Because we stand behind the quality of our breeding program, each puppy is sold with a two year health warranty that protects against serious genetic health conditions.

Our goal is to give every puppy the best possible start in life and to provide peace of mind to the families who welcome one of our Bernese Mountain Dogs into their home.

Before leaving for their new home, each Bernese Mountain Dog puppy receives a complete veterinary examination. During this checkup, the veterinarian evaluates the puppy’s overall health to ensure they are ready to safely transition to their new family.

Every Puppy Goes Home With:

Legacy Mountain Dogs provides a two year genetic health warranty on every puppy. This warranty covers serious hereditary conditions that would significantly affect the quality of life of the dog.

If a licensed veterinarian diagnoses a life threatening genetic condition within two years of the puppy’s birth date, we will work with the family to provide a replacement puppy from a future litter.

Because we carefully select our breeding dogs and perform health testing before breeding, situations like this are extremely rare. However, this warranty demonstrates our commitment to responsible breeding and our confidence in the health of our puppies.

In order for the health warranty to remain valid, we ask families to
follow a few simple guidelines that support the long term health of
their puppy.

Your Bernese Mountain Dog puppy should be examined by a licensed
veterinarian within 72 hours of arriving in their new home. This exam
confirms that the puppy is healthy at the time of transfer and allows
your veterinarian to begin a regular care schedule.

To Keep Your Warranty Valid:

At Legacy Mountain Dogs, we believe responsible breeding begins with careful selection of parent dogs. All of our breeding dogs are AKC registered and undergo DNA testing and OFA health clearances before being included in our breeding program.

These health tests help us evaluate the genetic health of our dogs and make responsible breeding decisions that strengthen the Bernese Mountain Dog breed.

While no breeder can guarantee that a dog will never face health challenges, responsible health testing greatly improves the chances of producing healthy puppies.
